Reversible vasospasm in migrainous infarction: a transcranial Doppler follow-up study.

چکیده
igraine is a common disorder in young women, but it is rarely associated with ischemic stroke. According to previous stroke registries, migrainous infarcts account for 0.5% to 1.5% of all ischemic strokes and about 10% to 14% of young ischemic strokes.1,2 The pathophysiologic mechanism of migrainous infarction is still unclear. Here we report a patient with a migraine history in whom acute cerebral infarction developed during a migraine attack due to an arterial vasospasm, which was illustrated by serial transcranial Doppler sonography (TCD).

Does the method of treatment of acutely ruptured intracranial aneurysms influence the incidence and duration of cerebral vasospasm and clinical outcome?
OBJECTIVES Cerebral vasospasm remains the leading cause of death and permanent disability after subarachnoid haemorrhage. This study determined whether the method of aneurysm treatment plays an important role in determining the incidence of cerebral vasospasm and its clinical consequences. METHODS Admission data, cranial computed tomography (CT), treatment details, transcranial Doppler (TCD) ...
متن کاملNeuroradiological Treatment of Intracranial Vasospasm
Background and Purpose: The expanded role of interventional neuroradiological treatment for postsubarachnoid hemorrhage vasospasm has highlighted the diagnostic utility of transcranial Doppler studies in this condition. The role of transcranial Doppler in follow-up and determining the need for repeat intervention has not been previously emphasized. Summary of Report: Intracranial angioplasty fo...
متن کاملIntra-arterial nimodipine for severe cerebral vasospasm after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage: influence on clinical course and cerebral perfusion.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE The efficacy of intra-arterial administration of nimodipine (IAN) in patients with severe vasospasm after aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) remains unproved. The goal of the present study was to investigate the clinical effect and cerebral perfusion after IAN in patients with severe vasospasm refractory to hemodynamic treatment. MATERIALS AND METHODS Twenty-six o...
متن کاملPostpartum cerebral ischaemia after accidental dural puncture and epidural blood patch.
Puerperal women are reported to have a rate of cerebral infarction 13 times greater than non-pregnant females. We report a case of cerebral ischaemia in a 30-yr-old healthy parturient after epidural analgesia for labour, complicated by dural puncture treated with two epidural blood patches. Investigations showed the development of cerebral ischaemia on postpartum day 14. A transcranial Doppler ...
متن کاملTranscranial doppler findings in a case of rabies encephalitis
Rabies encephalitis is a uniformly fatal disease with several hypothesis proposed to explain pathogenesis and mortality. One such theory premises deficiency of neuronal nitric oxide synthetase deficiency causing selective cerebral vasospasm. We present transcranial Doppler findings in a case of rabies that did not show imaging evidence of vasospasm. Transcranial Doppler in two published cases h...
